Hi and welcome to Richard's School of Motoring, which was established in 2003 by myself, Richard Barclay.
Before becoming a driving instructor I was a professional driver - driving LGV's PCV's all over the UK, Ireland and Europe - having covered many miles and I now have over 25 years' experience in this field.
With the start of the new millennium I decided on a new career, so I hung up my keys and started training as a driving instructor. After qualifying in Inverness in May 2003, I set up Richard's School of Motoring, based in Insch, Aberdeenshire. I have trained with some of the best instructor trainers in Inverness, London and Ireland so you can benefit from the best possible tuition. I have also sat, and passed, a multitude of advanced tests and hold certificates from the I.A.M., R.O.S.P.A., and Diamond advanced driving organizations.
I am also an approved grade 6 fleet trainer.
I am committed to road safety and am currently training for the DSA cardington special test. I will be taking more training so I can register on the ordit and fleet register, allowing me to train other prospective driving instructors. Next year I shall be training to become an approved LGV trainer.
